Presidents
ABB today announced the appointmentof Giampiero Frisio as the newPresident of its Electrification
Business Area and Brandon Spenceras the new President of itsMotion Business Area. Both willtake over
their new roles and join ABB's ExecutiveCommittee on August 1, 2024.
ABB CEO Björn Rosengren said:"Both Giampiero and Brandonare proven leaders with strong trackrecords
in their current roles driving profitablegrowth in two of ourlargest Divisions. I am particularlyhappy that we
are appointing internalcandidates - this shows the strength of ABB's poolof senior leaders. I am confident
that they will build on the strong performanceachieved in Electrificationand Motion over the past years."
Morten Wierod, CEO designate, added:"I am excited to work withGiampiero and Brandon alsoin their new
roles when I take over as ABB CEOlater this year. With them we will continue to have astrong Executive
Committee that will drive ABB's financialand sustainability performance."
Giampiero Frisio, Division PresidentSmart Power (ElectrificationBusiness Area) since 2018, willsucceed
Morten Wierod who, as announcedpreviously, will become ABB's new CEO as of August 1, 2024.
Giampiero joined ABB in 1995and has held numerous managerialpositions in roles ranging from operations
to marketing and sales. From January2011 to November 2018, he was the ManagingDirector for Protection
and Connection Business Unit, ElectrificationProducts. He holds a Master'sdegree in Electrical Engineering
from Pavia University in Italy. Giampiero is an Italiancitizen.
Brandon Spencer, Division President Energy Industries(Process Automation BusinessArea) since 2020, will
succeed Tarak Mehta, who as announced previously, will leave ABB to assume the role ofCEO of Timken
Group after more than 25 years withABB. Brandon joined ABB in 2006and has held a range of leadership
roles with a focus on the energy sector. Between2018 and 2020, he wasGlobal Managing Director forABB
Process Industries. Prior to joiningABB, Brandon held various rolesat Siemens Power Generation. Heholds
a bachelor's degreein Economics and a Masters' degreein Business Administration from theCrummer
School of Business at RollinsCollege in Winter Park, Florida.Brandon is a US citizen.
As of August 1, 2024, ABB's ExecutiveCommittee will consist of: MortenWierod (Chief Executive Officer),
Timo Ihamuotila (Chief Financial Officer), CarolinaGranat (Chief Human ResourcesOfficer), Karin Lepasoon
(Chief Communications and SustainabilityOfficer), Giampiero Frisio (President,Electrification), Peter
Terwiesch (President, Process Automation), Brandon Spencer(President, Motion) and Sami Atiya
(President, Robotics & DiscreteAutomation). In addition, MathiasGaertner will join the ExecutiveCommittee
latest on October 1, 2024 asGeneral Counsel and Company Secretary.
